Tea Party Pro Gun Rally

Many people were fortunate to have never shared a roof with someone of the opposite political spectrum. This Top 6 is for you and those who could really relate to the frustrations. Please feel free to share any frustration points I might have missed in the comment section below.

6: The Bold Faced Lies

lies

Seeing lies and half-truthism coming out of the fingers in social media conversations are bad enough, but to have a loved one spewing those same lies? It digs deeps into the core of you. What do you do? Do you call them on it? Hell no. Why? Because attempt number 4,539 to do it will fail. Even with substantial evidence to disprove it, your loved one will go on a wild tangent how this person connects with this person, who did this small thing which caused X to happen because Y person said this, and their butcher was connected to an Islamic Goat Farm. WHA?!? I was just proving your claim that Obama wants to kill everyone to be false. What does this have to do with the goat herder in Saudi Arabia?

5: Insane Games of Connect The Dots

connecting
Number 6 leads us to 5, where your head will spin from trying to follow the outrageous connections that have nothing to do with your original conversation. This will usually happen when they try to “prove” they are right. You could be sitting there having a casual conversation about flowers, then out of nowhere BAMB! A global warming conspiracy pops up and they are telling you about this one guy who knows a guy who allegedly saw a memo there’s no evidence of, which connected this organization to Nestle which produces chem trails for the government. WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH FLOWERS?!?! Furthermore… WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU GETTING THIS?!?! Excuse me, I digress… but you know the frustration. The crazy game of connect the dots where they make new dots to prove a point.

4: Vote for my Candidate or Get Out (or some other threat)

frustration

Living with and depending on each other for stability in a trying economy can be both beneficial and a nightmare. You may have experienced a time or two an outrageous argument out of the blue that starts with “You are voting for X Conservative right?”. IT’S A TRAP! Do you lie? No… because you want to maintain an ethical standing. IT’S A TRAP!

its a trap
So what’s left to do? Lie… Lie because if you don’t, IT’S A TRAP! When you don’t lie, and you are honest with who you are voting for, the threats start coming in. “If you don’t vote for X person, I’m not helping you anymore!” or “If you don’t vote for X, get out of here!”. Something along those lines.

3: Passing by a room blaring Fox News

broken tv

We’ve all been to a public place at one point or another, and a channel you would rather not watch, let alone listen to, is blaring for the amusement of the few employees really. Imagine 24/7 practically that channel blaring under the same roof? You might catch yourself listening and shaking your head ready to Google evidence that proves that douche bag guest of theirs wrong. Do you? No, because it will just start another fight. Instead, you find yourself venting on Social Media or to a like-minded friend of how much you want to pull your hair out over such insane claims.

2: The Conspiracy Theories

As expressed in previous points, many of the arguments you might find yourself getting into will involve not only half-truths and lies, but also conspiracy theories. In my time, I’ve heard some outrageous things coming out of my mother and father’s mouth. The longest time, Obama was Barry Santos and Michelle Obama was Michael Obama. WHAT THE HELL?! Luckily my mother didn’t believe the Mars conspiracy theory where Obama either came from Mars or lived on Mars, but if your loved one does… I’m so sorry. I’m so, so sorry.

1: Religion mixed with Politics

politics religion

If you relate to any of the top 6 points in here, it’s most likely the case that religion and politics are also involved. I’m an Atheist. I’m also a Secular Humanist. I use reason and logic to come to conclusive opinions based solely on fact. When I see things such as religion involved with politics, I shudder. I know many religious people who also shudder at politics and religion mingling. I’m sure you heard the rants of “Obama is a Muslim!” or “We need Donald Trump because he will keep all the muslims out of here!”. That’s all based on Religious propaganda, fearful of Muslim belief taking over Christian Belief. Little do they realize, they are the same thing.
